• PHH:Alaska

  Presbytarian Hospitality House is a home for tourbled youth from all corners of the US, but with a special focus for children from Alaska.
  
  PHH came to us wanting a redesign and a major overhaul of content after having the same site for the past several years. For them we've created a much more intuitive site and a better user experience thanks to a lot of work linking departments and people.
  
  This was our first corporate client.

• LugsChicago

  Lugs is the Chicago bike shop of Chicago Bike shops. They're supporters of the biking community and provide a friendly place for newcomers and veterans alike.
  
  They came to us wanting something fun, yet simple - our specialty. We built an incredibly intuitive site (save for the link names perhaps, but that was their call) with an interesting simplistic design, an XML based store, and JavaScript based image gallery to showcase their creations.

• Curry'sCloset

  Curry's Closet is the newest place for Sensual Garments in Chicago.
  
  Annette Curry came to us with a website in place that was in need of much attention. We threw out what was there and built another inventive minimulist site. We deployed our Paypal integrated XML based store with some JavaScript to make the items in the store "pop" and some great new CSS3 features to make the design perfect. Work is almost constantly on going due to the large back catelouge of garmets.

• CInterSoccer

  Chicago International Soccer Club is a premier soccer league in the suburbs of Chicago offering child and young adults an incredible playing experience for some of the most reasonable prices around.
  
  Danny Makaric, CIS's co-propietor, was referred to us by a prefessor of Kevan Loy (the design half of Bikestripe Designs). We made some interesting design and coding choices trying to make the site as fluid as possible. The whole site is based off of an iframe so that when the site is loaded once, everything else is almost instantaneous. More images were used because CIS wasn't comfortable using some of the less supported CSS technologies such as @font-face. Overall for a first project things turned out okay, even outsourcing some animation work.

• TheOneNightOnly

  The One Night Only Magazine is a Quarterly publication dedicated to Art and Literature. Each issue will not only present its content aesthetically, but will also further the art of media itself.
  
  With original design ideas from the Quarterly's founder, Kevan put together the first iteration, which can be seen here (links on page have been disabled). After the completion of their first issue, Jacob put together a site to match the style and layout. We plan to continue this with each issue. Instead of having iframes, to reduce load time, a simple javaScript keeps all content outside of the visible range of the screen, then upon clicking a link, the content of choice is moved to the center. This cuts down on overall code needed to run the site by not having the headers, footers, and stylesheets reloaded every time a link is clicked.

• Jesy Grose

  Jesy G. is a Chicago local with a background in climbing trees, mad doodling, and handstands. When she turned sixteen, garbage changed her life. She rescued an old window from a dumpster and immediately recognized that glass was the perfect medium in which to communicate her world-view. Like the artist's perceptions, her paintings are envisioned and created inversely, on the backsides of 'found' windows.
  
  Inspired by traveling, adventure, and ultimately, her imagination, Jesy g. captures a sense of candid innocence that is fun and evocative. Her signatures—roads, spiders, and band-aids—reflect her brightness of spirit, but also encompass the duality of human experience.

Philosophy

At Bikestripe Designs, we have straightforward ideas in terms of design and coding, centered around beauty through simplicity and universal usability through adhering to modern web standards. We believe in a dynamic user experience, and make it happen by utilizing CSS and JavaScript, and by keeping our designs and code minimulistic and pleasing to the eye.

We strive to keep older browsers usable (we'll hack around as much as possible), but at the end of the day we're keeping up with the changing technology. To this end, we don't use tables or anything of the sort to format our pages. Instead, we frame every page with a simple DIV skeleton and use CSS and JavaScript to make it glitter. Fewer pieces to the puzzle means faster load time and fewer potential problems overall.

We believe in a personal experience, and therefore, we will never make a template to reuse between customers - each design is custom made. Furthermore, we refuse to use Flash. From a Design and Programming perspective, we believe that Flash is the easy way out. It disenfranchises people from the code that creates it, and more important to you and your website's visitors, it bogs down your computer - regardless of how new or fast or whether it is a PC or a Mac.

Bikestripe guarantees not only that your site will validate W3C standards, but we also guarantee your satisfaction by never quitting until the job is done to your exact specifications.

What We Offer

We offer many services beyond building your newsite. We are able to add a CMS (Content Management System) to the sites we create for customers who are interested in handling their own updates. Our CMS is so incredibly simple and easy to update, even Grandma can use it. This is a more cost effective solution if you plan on doing frequent updates – we offer per page and whole site rates. A demo is available upon request for those interested in test driving.

We have developed a shopping cart that fully integrates with PayPal for your customers' security. This function is immensely flexible and can be customized to the pixel for the look and feel of your personal or business storefront. Updates easily with XML, including product pictures, prices, shipping, item ID, and other fields you may need, such as options for sizes or colors.

Bikestripe Designs keeps up to date with the current standards of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and implements these practices upon request so that your customers can easily find you. Who We Are

Bikestripe Designs is a two man team consisting of Kevan Loy and Jacob Gilliam.

Kevan is a senior at Roosevelt University study philosophy. He is the design and photography half of Bikstripe Designs. Design and photography have been a hobbies of his for almost ten years. He was digital colorist with Andrews McMeel Universal for four years.

Jacob Gilliam is a jack of all trades, playing in his band JK Extravaganza and working freelance.
